$5,000+
Reported annual transaction and subscription fee savings
The grocery-shop example.
One single-operator grocery shop used Brulee to reduce the recurring cost of its checkout and payments setup. The retailer remains anonymous.
What changed.
The setup runs locally rather than relying on a cloud-hosted checkout platform. Local hosting, subscription costs and payment fees were considered together, instead of treating each cost in isolation.
The first-year calculation.
- Reported initial cost
- $1,000
- Annual savings used for this calculation
- $5,000
- Savings compared with initial cost
- 5×
- Calculated first-year net ROI
- 400%
($5,000 annual savings − $1,000 initial cost) ÷ $1,000 initial cost = 400%. This simple calculation assumes the $1,000 is a one-off implementation cost and uses the reported annual fee saving. Additional ongoing costs would change the net return.
What the result means.
This result is specific to one shop and is based on reported project figures. It is not a forecast for other retailers. Payment volumes, provider terms, hardware, support and ongoing operating costs affect the result.
Local hosting brings responsibilities for hardware, updates, backups and recovery. The right choice depends on the whole operating cost and how the shop needs to work.
